Taxonomy
Rhynchonella subobsoleta was named by Davidson (1852). It is the type species of Globirhynchia.

It was recombined as Globirhynchia subobsoleta by Alméras and Peybernès (1979), Alméras (1996), Baeza-Carratalá and Sepehriannasab (2014), Radulović et al. (2023).
