Taxonomy
Hauerites astrictus was named by Tozer (1994). Its type specimen is GSC 28856 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GSC 46467, Crying Girl Prairie Creek, which is in an Alaunian marine siliciclastic in the Pardonet Formation of Canada.
