Taxonomy
Pteria spedeni was named by Waterhouse (1960). Its type specimen is NZGS TM 2172 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GS 7526, Mt. Heslington (N28/f7619), which is in an Otamitan marine horizon in New Zealand.
