Hexaporites was named by Pander (1830) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-u O u Sepkoski's reference number: 742]. It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Dianulites by Bassler (1953).

It was assigned to Trepostomida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Halloporidae by Pushkin and Popov (2005).
