Taxonomy
Orbipora was named by Eichwald (1856). Its type is Orbitulites distinctus. It is the type genus of Orbiporinae.
It was assigned to Batostomellidae by Bassler (1911), Bassler (1953); to Orbiporidae by Taylor and Cope (1986); to Trepostomida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Orbiporinae by Xia et al. (2007), Koromyslova (2011).
