Terebratula juvenis was named by Quenstedt (1852) [Terebratula triplicata juvenis].

It was recombined as Piarorhynchia juvenis by Ager (1962), Ager (1967), Pearson (1977), Siblik (1999), Alméras and Fauré (2007), Paredes et al. (2013).
