Taxonomy
Stictoporella was named by Ulrich (1882) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llvi-l S Wenl Sepkoski's reference number: 742, 1066]. It is the type genus of Stictoporellidae.

It was assigned to Cryptostomata by Sepkoski (2002); to Stictoporellidae by Bassler (1911), Bassler (1953), Jiménez-Sánchez et al. (2010); and to Ptilodictyidae by Ma et al. (2015).
