Taxonomy
Totlandophis thomasae was named by Holman and Harrison (1998). Its type specimen is MSUVP 1458 (single trunk vertebra) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hordle Cliff Rodent Bed, Hampshire, which is in an Eocene marine marl/claystone in the Headon Beds Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Totlandophis.
