Ichthyosaurus triscissus
Taxonomy
Ichthyosaurus triscissus was named by Quenstedt (1856). Its type specimen is GPIT 12/0224-2 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hauff Quarry IX, Holzmaden, epsilon II/6, which is in a Toarcian marine shale in the Posidonia Shale Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Stenopterygius triscissus by Maisch (2008), Maisch (2010) and Ji et al. (2016).
