Wardichthys cyclosoma was named by Traquair (1875). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bed 2, Wardie B, north of Edinburgh, which is in an Asbian lacustrine shale/ironstone in the Gullane Formation of the United Kingdom.
