Taxonomy
Beryx vexillifer was named by Pictet (1850). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hakel (Boissier collection), which is in a Cenomanian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal carbonate in Lebanon.

It was recombined as Ctenothrissa vexillifer by Woodward (1899), Woodward (1901), Patterson (1964).
