Monobolina was named by Salter (1866) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-u O Llde Sepkoski's reference number: 1,950]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Elkaniidae by Holmer (1993), Williams et al. (2000); and to Lingulida by Sepkoski (2002).
