Taxonomy
Simolestes keileni was named by Godefroit (1994). Its type specimen is MNHNL BU159, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Montois-la-Montagne, which is in a Bajocian marine marl in the Marnes de Gravelotte (=La Gravclotte Marls) Formation of France.
