Taxonomy

Neptunidraco was named by Cau and Fanti (2011).

It was assigned to Geosaurinae by Cau and Fanti (2011), Young et al. (2013), Young (2013), Parrilla-Bel and Canudo (2015).

Species

N. ammoniticus, Steneosaurus barettoni

Synonyms

Steneosaurus barettoni was named by De Zigno (1883). Its type specimen is MPUP 6552, a partial skull (partial skull and mandible, teeth), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mount Zovetto, near Tresche Conca, which is in a Bajocian/Tithonian marine limestone in the Rosso Ammonitico Veronese Formation of Italy.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Cau (2013).
