Orthisocrania was named by Rowell (1963) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-u O u Sepkoski's reference number: 1]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Craniidae by Williams et al. (2000); to Acrotretida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cranioidea by Cocks (2019).
