Toyotamaphimeia machikanensis
Taxonomy
Tomistoma machikanense was named by Kobatake et al. (1965). Its type specimen is MOUF00001, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Osaka University, Machikaneyama, which is in a Pleistocene mire/swamp claystone in the Ibaraki Formation of Japan.
It was recombined as Toyotamaphimeia machikanensis by Aoki (1983) and Kobayashi et al. (2006).
