Uraloceras cancellatum was named by Dear (1966). Its type specimen is GSQ F9060 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GSQ D158, Spring Creek, which is in an Artinskian marine siliciclastic in the Yarrol Formation of Australia.
