Taxonomy
Apheoorthis was named by Ulrich and Cooper (1936). Its type is Eoorthis lineocosta.

It was assigned to Eoorthinae by Rubel (1961); to Orthida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eoorthidae by Williams et al. (2000), Hansen and Holmer (2011).
