Crocodilus ziphodon
Taxonomy
Crocodilus ziphodon was named by Marsh (1871). Its type specimen is YPM, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grizzly Buttes, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Limnosaurus.
It was recombined as Limnosaurus ziphodon by Marsh (1872), Hay (1930); it was recombined as Crocodylus ziphodon by Hay (1902); it was considered a nomen nudum by Langston (1975).
