Taxonomy
Vinchuscanchaia kieri was named by Smith (1994). Its type specimen is USNM 398508 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Vinchuscancha, which is in a Norian open shallow subtidal limestone in the Chambara Formation of Peru. It is the type species of Vinchuscanchaia.
