Ammonites (Ceratites) cingulatus

Taxonomy
Ammonites cingulatus was named by de Haan (1825) [The supposed type specimen and locality are incorrect. The type is in the Royal Dutch Collection without provenance.]. Its type specimen is BMNH C.36001 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is St. Cassian (Munster coll), which is in a Julian carbonate limestone in the Cassian Formation of Italy. It is the type species of Brochidium.

It was recombined as Ammonites (Ceratites) cingulatus by Munster (1834); it was recombined as Ceratites cingulatus by Munster (1834); it was recombined as Porcellia cingulata by Münster (1841); it was recombined as Brochidium cingulatus by Koken (1889); it was recombined as Brochidium cingulatum by Kittl (1891) and Cossmann (1916).
