Taxonomy
Punctospirifer ambiguus was named by Maxwell (1964). Its type specimen is UQ F42843 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UQ L2082, Yarrol, which is in a Serpukhovian marine siliciclastic in the Poperima Formation of Australia.
