Erycites (Abbasitoides) was named by Geczy (1966).

It was Stephanoceras (Abbasitoides) by Callomon and Chandler (1990); it was synonymized subjectively with Erycites by Howarth (2013); it was reranked as Abbasitoides by Molina et al. (1999), Kovács and Géczy (2008) and Dietze et al. (2017).

It was assigned to Erycites by Geczy (1966); to Stephanoceras by Callomon and Chandler (1990); to Ammonoidea by Molina et al. (1999); and to Erycitinae by Kovács and Géczy (2008) and Dietze et al. (2017).
