Taxonomy
Calamopora gnemidium was named by Klipstein (1843). Its type specimen is BMNH S10466 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was synonymized subjectively with Actinofungia astroites by Laube (1865); it was recombined as Ceriopora gnemidium by von Wöhrmann (1889); it was recombined as Cassianochaetetes gnemidius by Engeser and Taylor (1989).
