Anechophragma was named by Neuman (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llvi Sepkoski's reference number: 878].

It was synonymized subjectively with Calyptolepta by Williams et al. (2000).

It was assigned to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Anechophragminae by Madison (2013).
