Taxonomy
Ammonites valdani was named by d'Orbigny (1844). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Les Cottards, nr Saint George de Poisieux, which is in a Pliensbachian marine horizon in France.
It was recombined as Acanthopleuroceras valdani by Melville (1972), Meister (1986).
