Taxonomy
Harpoceras fontanellense was named by Gemmellaro (1885). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Hildoceras fontanellense by Fucini (1908); it was recombined as Arieticeras fontanellense by Haas (1913); it was recombined as Fontanelliceras fontanellense by Imlay (1968), Hillebrandt (2006), Kovács (2011).
