Taxonomy
Medlicottia gansuensis was named by Liang (1981). Its type specimen is NIGP 62039 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is F7, bed 12, Shuangputang, Jinta County, which is in a Roadian marine shale in the Shuangputang Formation of China.
