Taxonomy
Procerithium compactum was named by Grundel (1999). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tongrube Mistelgau, Opalinum Zone, Bavaria, which is in an Opalinum offshore claystone in the Opalinuston Formation of Germany.
