Taxonomy
Tirolites latiumbilicatus was named by Guo (1982). Its type specimen is NIGP 20070 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Majiashan, Caoxian (lower Biandanshan Mb), which is in a Spathian basinal (carbonate) claystone in the Biandanshan Formation of China.
