Serratocrista was named by Brunton (1968) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-u Sepkoski's reference number: 400]. It is not extant. Its type is Serratocrista fistulosa.
It was assigned to Schuchertellidae by McIntosh (1974); to Schuchertellinae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
