Strophalosiina was named by Licharew (1935) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon P Dora Sepkoski's reference number: 4,1142]. It is not extant. Its type is Aulosteges tibeticus.

It was reranked as Strophalosia (Strophalosiina) by Licharew (1937).

It was assigned to Strophalosia by Licharew (1937); to Chonosteginae by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960); to Echinosteginae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
