Nectosaurus halius
Taxonomy
Nectosaurus halius was named by Merriam (1905). Its type specimen is UCMP 9124, a partial skeleton (preorbital part of skull (lacking most of premaxilla); dorsal skull roof (including frontal, postorbitofrontal, and part of parietal and supratemporal); posteri), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Smith Cove (UCMP 1012), which is in a Carnian marine horizon in the Hosselkus Formation of California. It is the type species of Nectosaurus.
