Taxonomy
Rugostrophia was named by Neuman (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-u O Cara Sepkoski's reference number: 412,538]. Its type is Rugostrophia silvestris.

It was assigned to Pentamerida by Sepkoski (2002); to Punctolirinae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Tetralobulidae by Benedetto (2003).
