Taxonomy
Tetralobula was named by Ulrich and Cooper (1936). It is the type genus of Tetralobulinae.

It was assigned to Pentamerida by Sepkoski (2002); to Tetralobulinae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Tetralobulidae by Popov et al. (2005).
