Anarhynchia was named by Ager (1968) [Sepkoski's age data: J Call Sepkoski's reference number: 538].

It was assigned to Rhynchonellininae by Ager (1968); to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Peregrinelloideidae by Williams et al. (2002).

D. Ager 1968Large subcircular to trans-versely elliptical rhynchonelloids, almost equally biconvex, dorsal valve slightly flattened posteriorly, beak fairly prominent with large mesothyrid pedicle opening. Many strong blunt costae on both valves throughout growth. Teeth very small, arising directly from valve wall, no dental plates. Hinge-plates fused, no septalium. Large blade-like septifer crura arise directly from close parallel septa in the dorsal valve.
