Columbella lafresnayi was named by Fischer and Bernardi (1857). It is extant.

It was recombined as Anachis lafresnayi by Miller (1990); it was recombined as Cotonopsis (Cotonopsis) lafresnayi by Monsecour and Monsecour (2005).
