Bojothyris was named by Havlicek (1959) [Sepkoski's age data: D Sieg D Emsi-l Sepkoski's reference number: 25]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Bojothyridinae.
It was assigned to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Bojothyridinae by Williams et al. (2006).
