Taxonomy
Saurichthys grignae was named by Tintori (2013). Its type specimen is MPUM 9546, a skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Scudo Tremare, Northern Grigna Mountain, which is in a Fassanian basinal (carbonate) limestone in the Buchenstein Formation of Italy.
