Taxonomy
Diplospirella was named by Bittner (1890) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis Tr Carn Sepkoski's reference number: 1239]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Diplospirellidae.

It was reranked as Spirigera (Diplospirella) by Bittner (1912).

It was assigned to Spirigera by Bittner (1912); to Diplospirellinae by Benigni and Ferliga (1990), Williams et al. (2002); and to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002).
