Kozlowskiellina was named by Boucot (1958). Its type is Kozlowskiella strawi.

It was assigned to Kozlowskiellininae by Bassett and Cocks (1974), Jin and Chatterton (1997); to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cyrtinopsinae by Williams et al. (2006).
