Solemya (Acharax) burica was named by Olsson (1942) [MEASUREMENT: Based only on unfragmented dimension (height). Estimated to be 115 mm in length.]. Its type specimen is PRI 4076, a partial shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Burica Point, Burica Peninsula [Burica Sandstone], which is in a Pleistocene/Pleistocene marine conglomerate in the Burica Sandstone Formation of Costa Rica.
