Najadospirifer was named by Havlicek (1957) [Sepkoski's age data: D Emsi D Emsi-u Sepkoski's reference number: 25].

It was assigned to Reticulariidae by Jones (1982); to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Elythynidae by Williams et al. (2006).
