Taxonomy
Scutella rogersi was named by Morton (1834). Its type specimen is ANSP 1070, a test, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Lagena rogersi by Agassiz (1840); it was recombined as Clypeaster rogersi by Clark and Twitchell (1915), Cooke (1942), Cooke (1959), Kier (1997).
