Nipponoteuthis katana
Taxonomy
Nipponoteuthis katana was named by Iba et al. (2014). Its type specimen is UHR 33222 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hosoura port, Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture, which is in a Sinemurian marine sandstone in the Hosoura Formation of Japan. It is the type species of Nipponoteuthis.
