Paralaballa was named by Sun (1981) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori Sepkoski's reference number: 538]. Its type is Paralaballa zangbeiensis. It is the type genus of Paralaballinae.
It was assigned to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Paralaballinae by Williams et al. (2006), He and Chen (2016).
