Taxonomy
Sphenaster larumba was named by Smith et al. (1999). Its type specimen is BMNH EE6073, a test, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Navarra Larumbe, which is in a Thanetian marine shale/limestone in the Cabo de Lata Formation of Spain.
