|---|---|---|
| J. B. Knight 1941 | Patelliform gastropods of moderate size with very thick shell and terracelike fasciculations of the growth lamellae; apex (smoothed by abrasion in old shells) placed well forward; sides rather steep; aperture ovoid, broadest behind; lines of growth coarse, the shell surface with concentric terraces from fasciculation; inner surface with 12 subovoid, clearly marked, pigmented, depressed, unquestionable muscle scars arranged in six pairs one on each side in a horseshoe-shaped circle open in front, lying about one-third the distance from the margin to the apex, the anterior pair of scars being larger than the others and made up of three smaller scars coalesced at their marginal ends; the inner surface between the scars smooth and polished, that within the horseshoe of scars rougher; shell thick, its structure unknown.
The holotype has a height of 15 mm and a length across the aperture of 23 mm. |
