Taxonomy
Anomia spinosa was named by Linnaeus (1767). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Anglia, which is in a Bajocian/Bathonian carbonate limestone in the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Acanthothiris spinosa by Childs (1969), Shi and Grant (1993).
