Taxonomy
Mammites rancheriae was named by Anderson (1958). Its type specimen is CAS 61796.01, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS loc. 455, Henley (Fagesia siskiyounensis horizon), which is in a Turonian marine siliciclastic in California.
